I have a 1988 Ford Ranger XLT ext cab truck with the 2300 efi engine. It runs good but it starting idle wrong and acts like it gonna die however it doesnt just gets low and comes back up. What could this be. I noticed the Air filter box is hissing from around the lil sensor on the side of box, could this be why it is idling weird. And could I replace the whole air system from the intake to box and take it off and just put a cold air system from Advance on it and fix it. The truck doesnt do it all the time just every now and again. Nothing that keeps it from driving tho. Any advice.

IAC valve ?

That's where mine WAS I put a mustang motor in and now it's on the throttle body.:icon_welder:

MAP sensor or could be the air flow sensor...if you pull codes it might tell you exactly what is wrong...there is a link in one of these threads to pulling codes on OBD-I systems but it is also in the tech forum...

EDIT: found it in the tech forum for you...
