OK guys, heres another one. just changed head gaskets and truck runs great
BUT upon cold start up the thing idles high, then stalls a couple times. As it starts to warm up it will rev up and down from about 800rpm to 2200. Once the thing has run for a bit it clears right up and idles perfect. I have read some about the idle air control valve, could this be it and can I lube or clean it?

And the belt seems to be loose, do the Tensioner Pulleys go bad ? It doesn't seem to have a whole lot of spring in it when i depress it to install the belt.

Thanks for all of your help ! This is a most awesome website

Yes it is possible for the tensioner pulley's to go bad. You can try to clean the IAC and see if it helps. There are cleaners that are safe to use on sensors, but a lot of people just use carb or brake cleaner. Need to be careful not to spray it on the end of the IAC where the electrical connector goes, only the mechanical valve side. The TPS or FPR are also possibilities, but the IAC is a good start.
