Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
PLEASE JUST CALL ME AN idiot LIAR and be done with it.

My five speed 1987 reg cab/long bed 4x4 Ranger, with stock 2.9l, 6" lift on 32's made 28 mpg highway, 25 in town.

My automatic 1987 BroncoII 4x4 with rebuilt 2.9l , 4" suspension lift and 32's made 24.6 mpg while towing 2,200 lb through mountain passes on 700 some mile tow.

My BroncoII engine now in my 600 lb lighter 1987 Ranger 5 speed snd is expected to get up to 34 mpg highway.

My BII, with rebuilt 94 Explorer 4.0l with SFI, is expected to make 30+ mpg.

The anochdotes I share are the results of attempting to replace failed power plants at a cost less than a crate replacement but with improved performance.

The 2.9l is much cheaper to rebuild better than a crate replacement, the 4.0l will cost a little more than a crate; my build is incomplete, so the actual results are not yet ready to be shared.

So what you're saying are results are still pending.

I don't question the things you talk about work.

The problem is timely delivery. Anytime someone mentions 2.9L... you take off on a dead run with free floating this... custom ground that... mandrel bent... port and polish everything... and don't forget flat tops.

It's all the time. Most folks (myself included) just aren't going to do that. There are way better cost effective options. Most just want it to run decent and most times gaz... none of the stuff you preach fix their problem.

Just like the last post before you went off here. Dud you even read what the OP said? I don't think so... he said he was not even going to attempt replacing an exhaust manifold. The first thing you tell him to do is put headers on it. And... it Most likely wouldn't fix the problem.

Take a deep breath...

Then deliver what you preach to someone willing/wanting the information.

Larger tires will spin the odometer slower, so if you're not accounting for that change then your calculations are inaccurate and falsely showing better economy than what you're actually getting.

In other words, to get such great mileage, he cheats.

I'll choose not to. But, I will (jokingly, with no malice behind it) call you cheater.

Did you correct your speedometer after adding larger tires??
