identifying 360 from 390?

I loved my 390's, great engine, known for poor oiling on the top end. Sound familiar. Hard to find parts for now. Same mileage or better under load. Don't expect better than 10 mpg. I actually got better mpg runnin a 4 barrel carb.

A 360 crank could work in a 428....and Ford did make a 410, i think it was used in mercurys and lincolns though.

The 429/460 were 335 series engines, and of course the good ol Modifed 351/400 engines all know and some love.

the crank swap he's probably thinking of is the 391 truck engine.other than the '65-'67 427 side oiler, this was the only steel crank ever offered in an fe engine.the snout had to be turned down to fit the car engine's balancer, but it had the same stroke as the 390/406/427.

I think it's the other way around to get a 410. Use the 428 crank, rods and the 360 block/pistons. Use the 428 block and the 390/391 crank and you get the 406. Ford did a lot of mixing parts back then

The 429/460 were 385 series engines. The 351/400 Cleveland engines were 335 series.

If you want to get down to details, there was also a 302 out of Australia that was built with the Cleveland design and it is considered a 335 series engine also.
