Hello everyone,

Have a few questions for y'all. Is the engine supposed to die when I unplug either of the three sensors(IAC, MAP, or TPS?) Just wondering if I should be looking at these, as my truck is still running like sh*t after getting rid of the bad(watered) gas.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

yes.

no change when unplugging the sensor would indicate the computer determined the sensor was out of range and is ignoring it.

Wicked, about the running problem, what else do you think it could be? It just sucks that the gas station I went to had water in their fuel. Still have to give the manager a call, probably doing that tomorrow as well.

the problem didnt occure until you fueled up that day...so i would assume the problem still lies in the fuel system. if you had a sensor that was causing a driveability problem, youd probably have a check engine light too. i would start by replacing the fuel filter (dont remember if you did that yet after draining the tank). then check out those injectors.

Yeah I will replace the filter tomorrow. I'll check the fuel pressure as well.

Finally got around to doing the filter and checking the fuel pressure. Idle is much better now and will not drop in RPM when put in drive anymore. Fuel pressure is 40 PSI with key on, ignition off and around 35 PSI at idle. Still have the problem of not wanting to rev in drive, and only does the problem in drive. Doesn't seem willing to rev past about 2000RPM All other gears are fine. Could one of the sensors be causing my truck to be running in limp mode? Could the water have fu!@ed something else up?

limp mode would be accompanied by a constant CEL.

sounds like the water got to the injectors....pulling them should be your next step.

OK, glad we ruled that out!
So I should pull them and do what with them? Replace them?

replacing them would be the best bet. that way there is no question that they are functioning properly and not plugged.

you could pull them and try to clean them out. or see if any of your local shops have the ability to flow test them.

Damn, this really sucks.
What would be the DIY way of cleaning fuel injectors?

remove them and clean the intake screens (i think you can even buy kits to replace the screens, but im not sure) with an arisole carb cleaner. then let the injectors soak overnight submersed in the cleaner. you might even pop the hats off (the tips) and clean in, under and around them.

thats about the best you can do. while your in there, make sure your fuel rail isnt full of rust.

OK, thanks. But I now have an even bigger problem. She won't even start now! Also checked some plugs out, on cylinder 5 and 6. Number 6 looked pretty good, a little carbon but it was fine. Number 5 had a lot of oil on the threads and had about the same amount of carbon as 6 did. Also checked fuel pressure, still good...

Could the injectors be so bad that it doesn't even start the next day?

Well I guess I will pull the injectors A.S.A.P

i would expect clogged injectors to give pretty consistant symptoms...

do you have spark?

I can test for spark by pulling a plug, attaching the plug wire to it, and cranking it over to see if I do, right?
