my 97 has a brass port on the side of the iac should there be a vac line on it by chance? i tryed spraying crab cleaner in it, seemed to ever so slightly idle up. it did seem to pull the cleaner in it seems

The IAC is an electric device. NO brass port on it. You are not looking at the IAC.

This is what the IAC valve looks like:

there is a brass port on it. mine was missing the little cap that gos on it. i changed it out and found out about the cap. thanks any ways.

My 3.0L has a similar cap except mine is plastic not brass. Either plastic or brass.... it is a little breather... so it is going to suck in a little spray and speed up the engine. I don't know why Ford needed to add the vent (my '88 351 isn't vented). My concern was how much dust gets suck in!!??

i feel ya. i tryed caping the old iac. bad idea. i made this loud sucking sound from the intake, wasnt inspecting that. freaked me out. so i will suck air in on the little port.
