HELP!

I was cleaning the IAC on my 1999 Ford Ranger 2.5 4cyl. and the IAC gasket fell apart. Autozone does not have this part, nor does anyone else. Is this part not necessary or where can I locate this gasket?!

Make with some gasket material. Either use the IAC or the old gasket as a template, trace and cut it out.

i bought a gasket from oriellys awhile back for my 00 2.5 when i did my iac:icon_confused:

felpro 71216, call them back and ask if they have that number in stock. i checked my cataloging and it doesnt list one either, but i went to the shelf and pulled off the one that i know fits that iac and thats the part no. other wise you can make one as other have suggested.

a thin smear of (any color) "Ultra" silicone sealant will do the job.

The secret to ANY "gasket material" is getting the surfaces CLEAN.

You aren't trying to keep water or oil either in or out you are just trying to prevent a gross excess of air lekage.

I hate posting after Allan. There is just nothing left to say. LOL A high temp rtv would prolly be better. But you can get a complete intake gasket kit at any parts store for your motor which will include the IAC. I dont see where it hurt to go ahead and do all your gaskets. But then again.....if it aint broke.....

Well I went with the advice from Sunk and made it with some gasket material and it worked fine. I cleaned my IAC and it still stumbles at start up so I'm going to try cleaning the MAF sensor. If that doesn't work, I will replace the IAC, then MAF and go from there.....thansk for all the help!

If it is only at start up then it is while running open loop. It is most likely an EGR issue. Does it stumble at idle or wide open throttle? Does it do it anytime throughout the rpm range? Or only on startup? Knowing this will go along way towards diagnosing it. You can get an OBD1 scanner for 30 bux at the auto store, not sure what it costs for OBD2. But getting it scanned will be the fastest way to diagnose a cheap correct fix.

I know it's a little late but dude, Ford sells them. I just handed one over the counter not long ago. It's like $5.

RTV blows goats. Hate the stuff....Its fine for clogging things up like oil galleys, and intakes though. Use gasket material or the real deal. ;)
