**UPDATED 7/29/10 I want to insure my 1988 for $15,000 progressive won't let me

i have a lot of work in improvements/upgrades to my 1988 bronco II i want to insure it so that if i total the vehicle my $15k will not be totally lost. progressive won't do a "stated value" policy on it because it is more than 10years old, they referred me to hagerty who will not do it because it is newer than 1982 and therefore not a "classic" or "antique"

lloyds of london won't even talk to me lol so where do i get the insurance that i am looking for?

Google is your friend. Find every insurance company you can and call them. Good luck.

Good luck.

once i find someone to do it, i think we ought to post a sticky about it so that all users with rigs worth more than "book" value can know where to get insurance that will properly cover their vehicle

good news...........

Foremost Insurance.....

and American Collector's Insurance are worth checking into....

if you provide the necessary info/pics....either of them will give you full repacement value for your vehicle if you ask for it specifically...

check into it.....they're even less expensive because they know we take care of our Classic/Antique/Retro/whatever vehicles better than most people!

1982 eh? So, 28 years is considered an antique? That's kind of a random number, usually it's a nice round number like 25 or 30 years. Wierd. :dunno: In CT, anything older than 1990 is an antique (20 yrs). I'll be getting antique plates for my 92 Accord in another 2 years. :headbang: Good luck.

wait.... my truck is a classic/antique.... its an 84 =P in 3 years yours will be right?

Man I feel old. A '92 Accord would be considared an ANTIQUE???? I knew CT was screwy, but that takes the cake!

i called them both, there were a couple of deal-breakers first i need to be over 25 which i'm not, second with foremost ins. the vehicle can not have a lift, or roll-bar/cage. and even if i met those requirements both companies said it would only be covered if i could prove that it only moves from a locked enclosed garage for car-club functions, car-shows, and parades.......NOTHING ELSE

and both companies stated that absolutely no off-road use of the vehicle (including race-tracks)

why cant we drive on the road without insurance and just accept the consequences?.... no life lessons anymore unless you get caught for doing something pointless wrong =P

Do you have receipts? When I totalled my 89 ranger right after I got done fixing it all up I handed the insurance guy a folder full. I got 5K for the truck and another 6K for all the work I had done to it. Then I went to the tow in place and pulled all the stuff that was still usable off it and kept it.

yes i have receipts but i was also counting what my labor was worth but the ins company will not cover labor either by shop or individual

Welcome to the world of modding vehicles. I have a Bandit 1200 that's got about 10k into it and is worth 3k on paper. It's life.

Because Insurance, just like locked doors, keeps the honest person... HONEST.

Really if we didn't have insurance, how many MORE "hit and runs" would we have?:icon_surprised:

It's bad enough we got Illegal Mexicans driving on the streets, running red lights, and hit and runs, no way to trace them.
