I want to insure my 1988 for $15,000 progressive won't let me

In the collector car market I believe 25 years is classic and 50 years is antique according to those collector auctions. Course the plates vary from state to state. I've never seen a "Classic" plate before just antique.

Well, STEP 1, sell it with all the receipts for as much as you can, STEP 2 buy you a brand new rig and just wheel the hell out of it, then bring it to the insurance company and tell them you need a new one, then repeat STEP 2...
SVT

I lost my racecar in a fire last year.......lost $30,000 or more........just not wanting history to repeat itself so soon

Pretty sure it's 20 years in Florida. Before I found my ranger I was talking about getting a 89 K5 Blazer with a 4 inch lift on 33's. My dad talked to our insurance company about insuring it and we were going to get an antique tag for it.

LOL in what fantasy is a Honda accord Ever a Antique? I mean 100 years from now someone finds one in a barn somewhere and guess what?

Its Still a honda accord.

ok here is the update. I GOT MY 1988 FORD BRONCOII INSURED WITH FULL-COVERAGE INSURANCE WITH A STATED VALUE OF $20,000 with a $500 deductible

it was through farm beaureau insurance because it has so many upgrades and i "obviously have pride of ownership" the agent pushed it through and worked it out with the underwriter

the craziest part is that it only raised my monthly premium by a whole whopping $2.00 that's right two-freaking-dollars per month more than i was paying progressive for a simple "fair market value" policy........and fair market value of a 1988 bronco II is $3,000 if i am lucky, and i would have possibly been able to claim an additional maximum of $3,000 in comprehensive if i provide receipts (most of the work i did myself anyway)

but now i am totally covered up to $20,000 with a $500 deductible

If it were a show truck and you have documentation of it as so you can insure it. If it is a dd...no way!!!!! My dad used to work at USAA after he retired from the AF. He told me about one of my cars (show and go). I had a beautiful 1972 Porsche 911SC I bought from a AF pilot who returned from Germany with the Porsche. It was a street legal racer with over 250 rwh 6 cl. No back seat and weighted in a 1,800 lbs. It had the whale tail spoiler on the back and the lightest wheel I have ever picked up!!! I went to a bunch of shows and USAA insured it for $30,000. It was 1 of 35 made in 1972. I paid $4,000 for the Porsche and it had 23,000 Kilometers on it.

yep, took me a month to pull it off. and about 100 step-by-step pictures emailed to the underwriter.

the hardest part was the rider to insure it for non-highway damage. but finally as it was said "you could roll this over on a trail like in moab and we'll cover it"

i honestly reccomend this to anyone with a modded truck

Good for you. I hate insurance companies in general. They make money by screwing you. They screw well.

Antique doesn't mean "classic." It simply means it's old. And a lot of people would say the same thing about Rangers and other vehicles that others may consider "classic."

2008 it legally became a classic, check with directgeneral.com or call a direct general dealer, they are pretty good. Or maybe Farm bureau.
