I want it loud!

You may have dynoed it and noticed a 2 hp gain, anything much under 10hp is nearly impossible to notice with a butt dyno.

Thats what my OBD2 scanner said, I swear the 2HP lets me go 100mph faster. I will say I'm getting that extra 1MPG consistently so that's always good, but I lost some when I got new tires. But yeah, the length and bends in the pipe contribute to the sounds as well.

Speaking from my experience, taking the catalytic converter off and putting a Thrush glass-pack on there is one way to get a pretty loud noise while still retaining decent sound. Straight pipe just sounds like you got a bad muffler. My truck with the glass pack setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPWk0Liohbs&feature=plcp
Keep in mind this is only a 2.3 litter, and it was running kind of rough at the time of filming, but it still sounds pretty good when we give it some gas.

A glasspack sounds about the same as a cat, so just leaving the cat will get you the same results, be better for the enviroment (as long as you don't use its surface of the sun temps to light tall grass on fire) and won't get you in trouble legally.

On here it is generally a rule that we don't condone removing emissions equipment like catalytic converters. :icon_thumby:

got a 93 ranger removed entire exhaust system after the first cat, so I still retain a Cat. then got 42 inches of 2.5" pipe clamped on to the cat. sounds de net and isn't too loud. plan on putting either a flow master 10 series of 40 series. then a 2.5" tailpipe.

You still removed a cat, that is as bad as removing them all.

Some vehicles have one cat. It has two partitions inside. Some vehicles have two cats, it is the same overall as the single cat just the two partitions are in seperate housings.

My cats gutted on my ranger, and I absolutely HATE it.

You can do high flow cats if you so desire.
