search search search.

I'm swapping in a 5.0 when I put on my 35's. There's no way in my eyes that the 3.0 is at all fit to turn them.

Then again, mine has high miles and has been beat to hell and back. Believe it or not they can run on a single quart of oil for miles. Don't ever do it though.

It all depends on what you want to do with the truck. More highway use. More offroad use. Or both....

While its not ideal, you can still do it. I recommend some DEEP gears. You'll need to make that 3.0L rev. The extra weight and added wind resistance at highway speeds will REALLY hurt the torqueless 3.0L. So, once again.... DEEP gears.

I had a 3.0 4x4 5sp years ago and it had the 3.73 and 31's. I constantly had to downshift to drive on the highway, sometimes down to 3rd going up a hill. That's why they call them a 3slo.

i ran 33's on my 99 with a 3.0 Auto. It had 4.10s and did alright, but i drove with od most of the time if i wasnt going down the highway

5.13's.

Nuff Said.

My 2.9L spins my 35s no problem. The 3.0L shouldn't be much different (it actually has 5 HP more lol).

I have 5.13 gears.

35's?? Good luck paying for all that gas you are gonna waste, Bro. 33's are all you need and 4:10 gears. Add a 4.0 or a 5.0 motor if you want to run 35's.

danggg i wish my ranger was a 4.0 and 5 speed then i would definitly do it but i am debating what to do with mine. I definitly dont plan on boggin it or nothin i just want it to look sweet and im gonna baby it and not floor it at every green light change mine i just dont know i really want 35s but i dont want stuff to start breakin heres the low down im gonna either gonna put it on 35s and get gears and spend some money or not but gears in it and run 33s and not spend as much$$$$$$$$ what do u guys think

mine has a 2.9l and running 33x12.50. All factory except for the 6 inch lift kit and it pulls them although the gas mileage is about 12mpg. Blew the seal out of a tranny and twisted a flywheel so far but it pulls them lol

What gears and tires are you running now? Look at the rear and there should be a small tag attached to it and it should say the size rear end and the gear ratio. With 33's you really should re-gear if you don't have 4:10's. With 35's you will need add maybe a 5:18 setup. Either way....expensive. 33's are much cheaper on the wallet and the gas milage over 35's. Something to think about, Bro.

If you really want 35's, then go that route. But if your short on the $$ part, then get what your budget will let you.

Everyone kept telling me to stay away from 35's. Saying I will break stuff right and left. I've beaten on mine a lot for being a DD and nothing has broke yet.
