I recently purchased a 1999 Ford Ranger which had not been started for a while. I put in a new fuel pump and reset the fuel shut off valve and to my surprise it started. I let it run for a bit and noticed that the oil pressure when to zero. I am not sure where to go from here.

What engine?

IMHO... put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it.

was it starting to make a lot of noise? that would be bad.
the oil pressure sender is a switch, not an actual gauge.
when the switch gets iffy/screwed up it can show zero pressure at idle.
my 2000 3.0 did that for years, especially when cold.
as Gump stated, get a real gauge on it and go from there.

It doesn't make any noise and idles well.

It's highly unlikely you have zero oil pressure and no engine noise. More likely is the wire fell off the "sender".
