I think I am ready to plunge in...

so the hole up there is actually smaller than 4"?

basically what I'm asking,

1) if i buy coax 4" speakers and those brackets, will i need much car audio experience to hook them up?

in the pick the three big holes are were they use factory screws in factory location, and the lil holes are your new ones.

okay.. so do i pretty much need a 4" component system to get around 70w rms?

i've got a few posted in past posts.. if you have a look at them.
i just want to not make a big mistake on a bad brand or whatever
or false spec's.. etc

as far as specs go, just watch out for max and rms, and when dealing wiht rms you just want to be close, you can adjust in the amp. if the amp is a little heavy on the amp side. umm id would stay away from MTX thats me, but if you find something yo ulike throw up a link we will let you know.

alpines - no 4" components
JL - no 4" components
JBL - don't have 4" components
eclipse - don't have 4" components
kickers - don't have 4" components
mb's, - 7 choices on onlinecarstereo.com... but it's weird because even the over $400 system, only has an RMS of 40w... wtf?

these are all according to the manufacturer's website, besides mb's... that is from www.onlinecarstereo.com

I'd just throw some full ranges in the 4" slots, there arent any other speaker ports?

behind the seat... not sure what size because i don't know how reliable crutchfield is...

but on the first page is what they told me (1st post of thread)

6x8 or 5x7 kinda the same thing, in the back

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPS400/Alpine-SPS-400.html?search=4+inch+car+speaker

http://www.jbl.com/car/products/pro...age=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA&cat=MEL&ser=POS

now if you think you can put in 5 1/4 in there it opens the doors alot but thats stock replacment. with the links above and im sorry if i miss lead you, about neeeeeded components, you dont neeed them, i dont even have them. i felt you were leaning that way and i didnt want to sway you. its yours not mine. but if you want a lil swaying and you think your up too it this is were i would go

those all look pretty nice... i am leaning more towards the alpines, i seem to see their name more often around here than JBL...

the alpines are also quite a bit cheaper, and have a greater range,

do ohms matter much to me at this point?

those alpines look pretty nice.. how much work does it entail if i put those in my dash?

obviously I would have to cut a bigger hole.. and i'd have to make sure it would clear everything in there... or were you suggesting those for the back?

no you can use them for the front, and 4 ohms is good all around, to use,

as far as mounting if you dont mind seeing the aftermarket cover, wiht out seeing it with my own eyes id just make the hole bigger and mount them to the dash, and use the after market grills to make it all look pretty,

so they would like stick out of the dash? not sure I really want that... but idk..

how much space do you reckon is under there? or is that just another gonna have to physically look to find out?

anyway, the smallest screwdriver I have doesn't fit.. so I gotta get a smaller one some time to get those screws out to take a look at the stock speakers

yea they would stick out but just the thick ness of the speaker cover,

and idk your gonna have to look,

What I've found is best for taking off the grills on front is one of those little right angle combo screw drivers. Ya know the ones that are kinda Z shaped that have a phillips end and a standard end.

thanks, i will probably get one eventually

been really sick as a dog the past 2 days... not like there is a big rush, not like i can even decide/know what a good speaker is or not ahahah.

How does that look?
Looks like it's either a:

P3SD210
10" Punch P3 2-Ohm DVC Shallow Subwoofer

orrrrr

P3SD410
10" Punch P3 4-Ohm DVC Shallow Subwoofer

Neither look too bad to me.. what do you guys think? What kind of amp would I need to run this? If it's a 300w rms sub, i figure a 400w rms amp would be good right?

Do I really need to worry about the ohms on either one? Anyway I can check after I have it (if i buy it... got him to let me see it this weekend... listen to it hooked up)

nononononononononononononononooooooooooooooooooooooo
dont buy used drivers!!!!
