My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
I was turning around in a dirt yard and my front passenger tire fell into a hole and broke the water pipe, pumped water a few minutes at least. I got it into 4wd and was on my way out when he truck stalled and wouldn't start again. Got towed out by a RAV4 (seriously).

I can hear the fuel pump, got plenty of fuel, spark and compression. lots of crank, no start, not even a fart....where should I start?

I am en route to check things now. Figured maybe have a reply by then.

I left her there last night. Kinda getting over this truck, keeps leaving me stranded.

Did you jerk it hard enough to set off the fuel safety switch?
I'm thinking that....would it still crank? Where is the switch and can I reset it?

I'm at the truck now. Not hearing fuel pressure. Checked fuses all looks good. Hit the Schrader valve and only a little fuel dribbled out...

Not sure on a 93, but earlier had the fuel safety switch on passenger side to the left of your left foot under the rug.

That’s where it is on a 93. Picture of it briefly in my “no start” video.

I found the inertia switch. It wasn't tripped. I tripped and reset it just to make sure. Nothing.

It's as if something unplugged my fuel pump. Is there a fuse or relay for the fuel pump?

What could cause a sudden loss of fuel pump?

Yes. There is a fuse and relay for the fuel pump. Did you watch my video? You will see how to check the fuse, relay, inertia switch, check fuel pressure, etc.

Yea, I checked all. That. I used a test light though, not a meter...all lit.

I did not try jump wire on the inertia switch.

Fuel pump won't cycle on. It's very obvious lack of noise.

I didnt check fuel pressure, but only because there isn't any...The fuel pump wont activate.

I poked the schreader valve on the injector rail and a little gas dribbled out.

Is it possible it was happenstance? My fuel pump was starting to show signs of age, sometimes I would have to cycle the key a few times if I wanted to achieve an easy start, although giving it a little gas while cranking always worked. Maybe it finally got mad at me and crapped out.

If the fuel system has an internal leak, turning the key on several times will build up pressure. The pump only works for about 2 seconds each time the key is on until the motor runs faster than about 400rpm. Each key turn puts in about 10psi of fuel pressure. Early systems spec for 40 psi running, and later about 60psi.

Giving it a little gas while starting points to a rich condition. Unlike a carb, hitting the thottle on efi puts in more air, not fuel. Perhaps you have a leaking injector...

Tried it all...got nothing bub.

I usually solve the problems of those at wits end...but I'm at wits end...don't make sense. Got me thinking like a hippie now, like this truck fell out of love with me and just wants to go.

It’s possible. Pumps do wear out and fail.

My vote is, that your truck doesn't love you anymore.

When you turn the key to start the engine, does the "check engine" light come on then go off (the normal operation)? In the power distribution box there's a PCM relay and a fuel pump relay. On my '94 Exploder it's on the passenger wheelwell, but not sure on a Ranger. I'm thinking, that if the distribution box got a good hosing from the water pipe you may some relays flaking out.

Im thinking same, except that box is on the driver side. The side that got the hosing is the non electrical side (passenger) . I still think something got hosed. Maybe the PCM itself?

The truck was still running when I fell in the hole. I put it in 4lo to back out and just as my tire was over the edge, it stalled and wouldnt start again, leaving me stuck in the hole.
