I am seriously contemplating building a 351W F4TE (hydraulic roller block) for my mom's car. I know it is not a Ranger or a truck, but I would like to know why I haven't seen too many of these engines built. Is there some sort of quirkiness with this engine build? I was going to build a 347 stroker engine for her car (because her car came with a 302 roller engine), but after doing the math, I realized that I could build the 351W for the same price and have more cubes. I have heard that these engines can be found in '94-'97 F-250/350 trucks and the E-series vans. I just wanted to get your opinion on this engine.

They were only produced for maybe 4 years tops. :icon_confused:That's why. And only offered in the E & F series vans and trucks. Everything from the 150's to the 350's they were optional in. And good cores are only recently becoming available. I sold my 95 E150 last year and it had 150,000 miles and still running strong, ran as good as it did new. That give you an idea why you don't see more builds?:D:D

they are being gobbled up,much stronger than the 5.0 block, and roller ready.they are not as strong as the pre 76 blocks.but save the hi cost of hydro roller conversion($500 ) but 70's blocks can be found for a hundred bucks where as 94 + blocks are about 3-400 if you find them.the yards will usually sell complete motors, not just block, so cost is even higher.the heads, intake, and efi are worthless except when used on a stock late model truck.

Thanks guys for the answers. If I should come across one of these engine, I am definitely going to buy it for the future build. Who knows, her car won't last forever, perhaps the 351W will end up in the Ranger:icon_hornsup:.
