Is magnaflow a good one,and what size with out losing compression.

depends on the sound you are looking for. a lot of guys run the flowmaster 40 and it has a nice aggressive sound. the magnaflow's arent quiet as loud as the flowmasters. a new one that has recently come up in a post or two is aero turbine 2525. you wont want to go any bigger than 2.5'' pipe diameter.

I have a magnaflow dual in/dual out muffler w/2.25" piping from the cats to the bumper. I love its deep rumble. Looking thru it before installation it is an "open" design with a cross over in its middle, eliminating the need to use a forward cross over pipe. Keep in mind it is also stainless steel, flowmaster and others are not. Also, both Magnaflow and the muffler shop that did the work said to go 2.25", not 2.5, as I would lose exhaust velocity and low end torque with bigger pipes.

I am waiting for my flowmaster 40 series delta cant wait to weld it up I get it on Friday. I will let you know how it comes out.

If u wanna keep your whole exhaust system stock, and just change out the muffler, then definately go for a Flowmaster muffler, the 40 series are the loudest, but i kinda like the 40 series Delta Flow muffler, It sounds almost identical to the Original 40 series, but theres less in cab noise. Which is a godsend for daily drivers who go on the highway daily. But if u wanted to go all out and get the best performance, and best sounding exhaust system, go with a 2.5 inch diameter pipe coming out from behind the catalytic converter, run it into a (Single 2.5 inch Inlet / Dual 2.25 inch Outlets) Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow muffler, and then run 2.25 inch diameter mandrel bent pipes all the way out to the back. If u wanted to, throw on sum 3 inch chrome tips for looks.

Thanks for the advice.

Its hard to decide with out hearing it.

2.5"pipe coming from the cat. to a flomaster single camber 2.5" pipe out right before the rear tire sounds mean and not to bad on the cab noise

I have dual exhaust on my 2.3 it sounds so bad I'm nervous to do an exhaust system on the 4.0. Is that sad?

yes as a matter of fact as it does.:icon_rofl:

Maybe one day I will grow the :icon_surprised: (eyes)? hehe

My 2.9 sounded like an "assgasm"

my 2.3 pops (which I like).... but then is loud enough to get me tickets :shok:

what will my 4.0 sound like when I :icon_welder: oh geeze,

maybe I just need to go to a real muffler shop for once.
