I need more power

The 2.9 is the most modified ford v6. There are alot of little things you can do to a 2.9 to get more power out of it. The first things I did to mine was a cold air intake and put in a different muffler. Its all about getting air in and exhaust out. So You have to free up any resistance to the flow.

you can get a cam craft cam, tb out of a 86-87 ranger or BII. it is 10mm larger. 5.0l mustang injectors, rockerarm spacers, adjustabul fuel pressure reg, port matching the upper and lower intakes. there are a few other things that you can do but i can't remember them off the top of my head.

The 2.9 is about as tuned as it's going to get without some sort of forced induction... A cold air intake will not do anything but make noises, and you should only change exhaust if you want a different sound than stock... You'll be sorely disappointed by doing all these mods, together, they might net you 10-15 hp... A 4.0 swap is the most bang for your buck alternative for more power...

I don't know if the 2.9L is the most modified, 4.0L is probably the most modified Cologne engine due to it's production span and greater aftermarket. Hell, the 2.8L might be even above that with all of the Duraspark conversions. Mufflers don't generally make any power, just muffle sound. IMO, the greatest disturbance to the intake flow would probably be the poorly mismatched ports from the factory.

10-15 more horse out of this engine is a god send. :) IMO, only upgrade injectors as necessary. If the engine isn't demanding enough air to justify the bigger injectors, you're just throwing money away and opening a can of worms with the engine management system. It's programmatically expecting the flow rate of the stock injectors.

+1 to axel gears. This would probably give you the best result for the $$. That and making sure there's nothing wrong running wise and that the engine stays maintained/tuned up.

i did the 58mm Throttle Body, K&N Air Filter, MSD TFI Blaster Coil, Autolite XP Sparkplugs, MagnaFlow High Flow Cats, 2.25" Cab-Back Exhaust w/ Raptor Muffler. the only thing i have seen is slightly better fuel economy and throttle responce. like people say its a good little motor but i am thinking a swap of somekind for more power.....4.0L or even maybe V8.

I used to be way big into modding my Camaro, and when you do modifications it's almost a rule that mods on the exterior of the engine support mods on the interior... The only way you will really create more power is to increase the density of fuel and air you can get into the combustion chamber, which means the only things that really affect power creation is reworking heads, pistons and valvetrain (without forced induction of course)... Then once you do that intake and exhaust mods does it actually make a difference, becuase you then, you might be sucking in and exhuasting more air then the stock components deliver...
