im looking for ideas on lifting my 89 ranger. Like a serious "Budget" boost. I don't want to throw my wheel alignment outta wack but im wanting around 3" of lift. Im running 31" tires.

i have been looking into a few ideas. I have been looking into 2" coil spacers. what do i all need to make coil spacers work? i was going to do a 2 inch lift in the rear with shackles. Im looking for better ideas for the front because i have my rear all figured out

I'm pretty sure any type of lift is gonna throw off your alignment but you can crank your t bars which I know will screw up your alignment, but its free and can get you about 2"

No torsion bars on an 89, they are on 98+ trucks.

You're cheapest route is coil spacers and shackles , or leveling coils and shackles. Either way you will need adjustable camber/caster bushings and an alignment. You can only get about 2" of lift out these trucks without needing the bracketry that comes with a lift kit. Your other option is a 3" body lift.

I got a 3" BL off of ebay for 50$ and then got my 2" leveling spacers for 25$. You don't need ne thing to do the leveling kit, it should come with an extended stud. But as mentioned it did throw my alignment off. All of this is on my 89

I heard bad things about coil spacers. Mainly on those studs. Is there anything i should know before i go and purchase coil spacers? or would it be better to go buy 2" lifting coils off of summit racing?

Another question i bought myself new axles that im going to upgrade to soon, dana 35 ttb and 8.8 rear. will my leafs, coils, and all the other stuff work for them? are all adjustable camber/bushing universal? between the dana 28 and 35

After I bought my Coil spacer I found out the 2"coils were only $20 more.

If you do buy the spacers, make sure you get the more expensive Daystar ones. I've seen alot of the cheap ones crack under regular street driving.

I cracked an axle beam without damaging my daystar spacers.

so its better to just get the 2" lifting coils? If i go 3" lift in the front, will i be able to get the wheel alignment set good.

My spacers have a lifetime warranty, but i just bought them because they were so cheap

Not likely. 2-2.5" is usually where the line is drawn depending on the truck as you wont be able to pull the camber up. Your fronts will be like "\ /" instead of "I I" Of couse it's an exageration, but you get the point.

Sonja had a 2" suspension with a 3" body. 33's fit well after they influenced the fender corners were should be. :icon_rofl:

My Ranger is probably going to get the shackles and add a leafs and a set of +2" coils or a good spacer. I have no desire to go more than 31" though and will bang the fenders to fit the tires.

how hard is it to do a alinment on the ttb? my tiers are wering fast on the inside and i want to fix it i plan on geting a 35 and i have 44 knuckels laying around and ill swap them on to

you might need to get adjustable camber/caster bushing. Might fix your problem when you go get it aligned

get all the springs off a 91-94 explorer 4dr i used them on my 88 and could clear 31's with absolutly no rubing but so far my truck has been a oddity so its just my sugestion. is your ranger 2.9 V6?

my ranger is a 1989 ranger XLT ext cab. Im going to be running 31" bfg muds. 2.9L v6 engine, 5 speed tranny.

the bushings are different for dana 28's and dana 35's you would nbeed to buy new ones, and then the dana 35 bushings would not fit (at least i don't think so)the 44 knuckles either.

stock explorer leafs would get you about 2" lift in the rear, then you can cut the eyes off of the ranger main leaf and pack it in there with all the explorer leaves and that would get you 3"

or.....belltech 6400 shackles are good for about 2" in the rear

and x3, don't go more than 2" up front without drop brackets...it won't work.
