Hi I'm new to this site. I got a 2000 Ford Ranger I did a SAS on a few months ago. Instead of putting new gears and a locker in the rear I found a Ford 8.8 out of a 2001 with gears and a locker so I swapped it in my 2000. I've been told that the speedo was changed during these years so I was wondering if my speedometer is going to work with the 2001 rear end?:icon_welder:

Where does the 2001 rangers plug there speedometers into??

I don't know about the 2001 Ranger specifically, but in 95 they changed to a sensor in the rear differential housing, yours might be like that. On Explorers of such vintage (~99+) they used the ABS sensors in the front and the rear to give a speedometer reading, so if you unplug the rear sensor in the rear diff and your speedo still works then it takes a signal from the ABS sensors instead.

....I hope that made sense.

If I used a dana 30 out of a cherokee is it possible to plug in the abs to the front to get a reading for the speedo?
