What's up everybody!? Name's Dawson, and I'm new here, but not to the Bronco II/Ranger family.
Here's my story.
When I was 13 my dad bought a 1988 Bronco II from his boss for $1,100 with 113k miles, which later became mine. It wasn't my first car, that was a Cavalier
('84 'vert at least
), and when he bought the Bronco, he gave me his '90 Grand Am LE coupe. The clutch latter went out in the II, and he bought a mint '78 Chevy pickup, and gave me the Bronco
. When I turned 15 my parents put a new clutch in it for me, and it was the first car I was licensed to drive. It treated me good, even though it had a leaking heater core. The reason we got it so cheap is because it had been side swiped. Somebody had run a stop sign, and my dad's boss smacked the side of them, and the car spun around denting in the passenger door. the only damage to the front was where the corner of the bumper had pushed back into the fender. The car was a write off, but still in great shape other than those couple of dents. It was just a base model truck as far as I can work out. It was black and gray, with a red interior, and no options. Manual windows, 5spd, manual locking hubs, no tach, and steelies. But it was a hell of an off-roader as I'm sure all of you know. It had the oversized offroad tires, they weren't huge, but I think two sizes larger than stock or so. For whatever reason fourth gear had gone out in it, when you tried to put it in 4th, it would just vibrate, and you couldn't get it in gear, I think the shaft was bent. Then one day while my dad was driving it, the transmission locked up on the highway, causing the back wheels to lock and he spun out at 65mph and went in a ditch. He didn't wreck though, he managed to miss other cars and trees and such. But that was basically the end of my Bronco. It sat in the yard for about 5 years, till we finally sold it.
The only picture I have of it is in the back ground of this picture I took of the 1993 Plymouth Sundance Duster V6 my dad bought me when I turned 16. (You can also see his '78 Chevy in the back)
Then about 4 or 5 cars down the road, I ended up with an '83 Ranger 4banger 5pd 2wd. This thing was cheap, I mean friggin cheap. Blue vinyl seats, white 14" 4 spoke steelies, and only one mirror. Paid $200 for it after the drive shaft snapped. Picked up one at a junk yard for $25 and drove it for a few months till I bought my first Acura. At the same time my dad had found an '84 Ranger V6 4x4 automatic fully loaded. It had every option, man that thing was luxurious. The exact opposite of my ranger.
That Ranger I ended up giving to my dad to give way for a super low mileage '84 Thundertird I bought from a farmer that had been parked since '93 when the fuel pump went out. And I have yet to get another Bronco II or Ranger, but I feel the need again for one. I have missed mine every minute since it's been gone, but I've always wanted to find a nice low mileage Eddie Bauer or something.
I don't want to waste everybody's time going through my vehicle history (up to 21 cars now I think), but here's my current fleet.
1990 Acura Legend LS. Bought for $400 in September with a blown automatic, threw in a 5psd and been daily driving it since November.
And my rimzz.
Old school BBS RS OEM optional on a 1988 Legend LS. Junk yard score, $40.
1987 Acura Legend (my first Legend) base model 5spd.
And my latest acquisition. 1994 Saab 900 SE V6. Fully loaded, every available option for that year, one owner, dealer maintained since new, Fk yeah.
So that's me. I was watching a video from somebody I'm subscribed to on YouTube (CORVAIRWILD) and he had a video of a 4dr full size Bronco, and I got nostalgic and started looking up videos of Bronco IIs. I actually found this site by accident while Googling pictures, and figured it wouldn't hurt to join and check out what people are doing to these beasts.
