Ugggghhhhh!!:damnit1:

I have crap laying everywhere. I need to find some place where I can get a good deal on a desk that wraps around ('L' shaped).

I'm ready to just throw everything on the floor....:annoyed:

:icon_twisted:

Jim,
Done that, the "L" shaped ones are nice. The problem is like putting a garage addition on, you will fill it! I actually got another desk from work as an auxiliary work table so what's sitting on it but a set of heads, new rockers and a Lava Lamp (and stacks of I know very valuable info I've printed out). Pole barn in full, three car garage is full so the ones that run are sitting outside. Got to change your evil ways.

I find my corner desk to be useful. Thou I do pack most of my clutter on it too.

I've came to the conclusion that if you are already running out of space:

More space = more crap!

The problem isn't usually lacking space for things but lacking the organizational skills to keep it all under control. So if you add more space without working on your organizational skills you just make the mess worse.

It might be different in your case though!

jim i too had the same problem 2 weeks ago. but having littleones that just learned to crall made my answer very clear. a small desk without places to hide was in order. being very similar to learjet's desk my lil one could hide in many places. and i hated it being full of crap all the time. even with the gfs neat little boxes to hide everything. so i tore it apart went to wally world cuz they had the cheapest desk in the right size. i couldnt be more happier. stilll clutter but nooo where nearly as bad.

Not to be a thread jacker. Where is this L-shaped suppose to go, garage, indoor. Is it going to be used for fabing parts or a paper stacker.

I get most of my stuff at Staples for paper stacking. Thou I do find some good metal desks at a Army surplus or depots. DRMO (unwanted or useless military stuff) usually have some good stuff. Everything from scraped computers to Boeing 707 Cockpits. And metal working desks and tables.

We have a place that sells used office furniture.

This is for home though and my desk sits in the corner of a large living room.

I need an L-shape desk. I always have papers laying on the floor around me while I'm working.

On my desk right now, I have my laptop, a printer with the copier built in to the top of it, a big pig of an IBM monitor, my vinyl cutter, and a key board hooked to my lap top. The big monitor is for the computer inside the desk that runs the vinyl cutter. The keyboard for that computer slides out from under the desk, which puts it right in front of the keyboard plugged in to my laptop. Sometimes I get confused when working on both computers and start typing on the wrong keyboard only to look up and not see any words.

Before you ask, I bought a keyboard and plugged it in to my laptop because I have a bad key on the laptop and this was the cheapest fix.

Actually, if I could get a small TV stand with a shelf in it, I could probably get my printer and vinyl cutter on that and free up some room.

Sounds more like you need some deciated shelf space for the printer and vinyl cutter. For my printer needs, I use a roll-around unit. Just big enough to fit between the wall and file cabinet. If the IBM monitor is a CRT type, ditch it and get a LCD flat-panel. It gives a lot more depth space to use, and for some, you can mount them on the wall.

Well, if my opinion is worth anything (not usually since I'm sarcastic and a BTDT kinda guy sometimes)...I wouldn't go with anything that you can't put into just about any space in the house...meaning corner desks and L-shaped desks really need to be considered in case you have to move them or simply want to rearrange the furniture (and I do that often out of habit)...

A good (large) solid desk with some shelves or cubby holes might work better...

But if you're set on an L-shape and don't plan on moving it around for a long time then...I had a corner unit similar to LearJet's, but it would only fit into one corner of the space I had...ended up giving it to my neice and just getting a bigger flat surface desk with some side tables (that I was planning on changing sometime soon because there is NEVER enough space for computer equipment, books and peripherals)...

KVM Switch

why not get a KVM switch for your 2 puters. One monitor, keyboard and mouse. They are cheap ive seen them like $20 at newegg.com. easy to use too. KVM stands for keyboard video and mouse.
