so the future wife has a 2000 Cherokee...i love Wheeling and driving that booger:icon_twisted:i like it so much i may be picking up a 1975 j10 pick up. drove by it today and it looks to be in great shape. but needs a drivers door. any one know what year jeep will work with a j10

also i know it is a v8. hope it is the amc 360 and not an out sourced gm 350. and it is an auto. has about 46,000 miles on it and if i get it. it will be my DD:icon_thumby:

i had one and it had a bad wander in the front end. replaced everything and had it aligned and it still had the wander. seen a frame with the cab off and it didn't have hardly any crossmembers on the frame

do you know what year jeeps will work?

For a front door? Just about any. literally.

From the back of the cab foreward all J-trucks and Waggy's are virtually identical.

*edit: A 4-door waggy, the 2 door ones have longer doors me thinks.

More edits:

The J-10 will have wide track fenders, all of them do.

The bucket seats from a Waggy will replace the bench in the J truck. Bolt in.

When it comes to J-trucks the Jeep thing isn't as bad. Those things are just plain sweet, and even sweeter as a DD. I'm helping a friend finish up a 4.7L stroker into his '79. It will still Just Empty Every Pocket though :icon_welder:

BTW this isn't me, it's my friend. Genuine shade tree stuff here.

I would be hoping for the GM 350, much easier to find parts for. I absolutly hate tracking down parts for orphins.

Well, yes, it is definitely easier to find parts for the GM350. But it's not impossible to find parts for a AMC engine either, pretty easy actually if you're a little patient. It's not even about knowing where to look either. I got a 360 for FREE a while back, guy just wanted it out of his garage. Blew off the dust and it had 99% of the original paint on it.

Like the front 1/2 of the trucks, not much changed on the AMC V8's over the years. And a lot of things swapped.

Oh, speaking of V8's:

If it still has the AMC engine in it, the CID will be cast into the side of the block under the engine mounts.

J10 pickups are sweet, and it looks like you got a good base to work on :icon_thumby:

i'd rock it...

go for ultra-cool points and swap in a cummins 3.9 diesel and a 5spd...dana 60 rear/44 front, 33's.....:headbang:

They are sweet, but it'll take a LOT to wheel as well as the Ranger in your sig, keep that in mind. I'd take a closer look at the frame, too.

I always thought the J10 was boss lookin'. Rock on.

OOOOOooooooo Do This! Do This!!

I love the J-series trucks!

I would like to ad that a swapping on the older grill from like a 68 would increase the cool by at least 25%. i remember stacy david did this on an old episode of trucks to a wagoneer and if i remember correctly it is bolt on.

Correct indeed!, except for some tabs and mounting holes the front grills are the same from 1962 to 1988 (pickup) and 1991? (Grand Wagoneer).

It's crazy how little anything changed on these trucks over the years, it's worse (or better?) than Rangers.

3rd longest continuously running platform in history, only very minor mechanical changes.

well i got it. door was plowed in...needs rockers. i believe it has a 360. with a gm hydromatic in it and a motor craft carb...haha the only part that sucks is that the front pumpkin is on the passenger side and it is full time 4wd and the trans is dead....runs great though

plans are to fix rockers, fix or replace door and paint to match, fix the trans, and change the t-case. lift it to fit 33s and wheel her and plow with her. she is old enough were i dont need to do a state inspection if i register it as an antique.
