I has beating mine with a hammer a while back but it left it unscathed:annoyed:. I hope I didn't **** the mechanism

they look cheap to me and 2 ton isnt that much a ranger alone weights about that. I have a full size 6 ton jack and jack stands from craftsman. a jack isnt someplace to skimp. i wouldnt feel safe using those stands and jack. yeah you got a creeper for 8 bucks throw the stands and jack away

They work great. Had one of the jacks holding up my Nissan for the past 6 months.

And a two ton jackstand supporting a two ton vehicle.. hmm..

That whole vehicle isn't piled on one of em bub.:icon_thumby:

Oh, and Matt, you should see my spare tire carrier. Its wired together (I lost the bolt) and the tire is wired down because I had to cut the large bolt holding it in place. Still holds though. :D

^^^ im just saying i love over kill when it comes to the thing holding my vehicle up when im laying under it

Well Congrats on the job Koda! Just gotta love havin the extra money! and I agree with you 2x 2 ton jacks/stands holding up a car is fine. Especially since its only holding up one part of the truck wich probably weighs less then a 1000 lb's. I mean 4,000lb truck with 4x 2 ton jackstands. thats a 4000lb truck being held up with a rated 16,000 lbs of jackstands. seems safe to me.

What Jack stands have this "defect"? any links to pictures? I have always used the 2x rule, if your vehicle weighs 2 tons, you need a 4 ton jack stand, etc. None of my Jack-stands have *ever* failed, I use the ones with the lever and FORGED slides.
(after all, ISN'T THAT the purpose of a jack stand, to SAFELY support a vehicle, you know we always get beaten by the phrase, "OMG idiot never get under a vehicle only supported by a jack")

I've seen some pretty SHITTY jack stands out there, I always use jack stands with forged centers and stiff tough legs with plenty of STEEL.

My jackstands sink into the ground anyway. No paved surfaces.

And I believe it was the craftsman jackstands that have the defect. Mine are Champion brand.
