i lost 4th gear, what tranny will bolt up tp my 2.9?

so im starting my hunt for a new tranny, will the mo5rd-1 bolt up to my 2.9? those came behind exploders didnt they? a buddy of mine has a t5, will that bolt up to my tranny?

a manual tranny from a 4.0 explorer or ranger should work.

A M50D-R1 from a 4.0 Ranger or Explorer will bolt up without any problems. I have one in my 2.9 equipped Bronco II.

thanks very much. so that T5 is a no go? if its a bolt up my buddy will give it to me (he owes me big) if nt i guess we will install a M50D-R1

As long as the T-5 has a 4.0 bell housing, then it will bolt up. HOWEVER, you will need to do some customizing to get a clutch to work along with a custom cross member.

I would also recommend getting a 4.0 clutch kit, flywheel, and starter. The 4.0 clutch is much stronger than a 2.9 clutch setup.

Make sure you get a NEW slave cylinder no matter what you do for the clutch.

yep that was the plan. i was planing on doing that come dec, but if i yank the tranny now why not?

well its toast now, it started whineing real bad then i smelled gear fluid burning. i parked it and could hear sizzleing by my shifter.. lol

parts explorer?if you are going to spend over 500$ you might look for a whole truck so you can do a 4.0 swap
