I just put one of these http://www.dualav.com/mobileaudio/xr4110.php in my little Ford Aspire, and I am impressed for the money. I got it new on Ebay for $36 shipped. The tuner picks up as good or better than the factory unit or a little better. The sound is very clear especially using USB thumb drives, but bass is slightly lacking because it is only 15x4. I suppose I could add an amp and a small sub. I don't care that it doesn't play cds because I never use them any more, and that is one less thing to wear out. Also, I doubt anyone would bother stealing it because it is fairly plain looking. Just my $.02.

i just got 2 10in duals in their ported box with lights and i couldn't believe they were duals. they sound crisp and clean and hit damm hard for 2 10's. my mind changed on duals also.

duals alright for the money. its not Memphis. or Pioneer (the good pioneer, not walmart's) but they will do more than what people expect

i would like to kno what systems you guys have that puts you in the 1000w rms.

I personally wont run Dual, i need at least 4v pre outs and havent seen that with Dual. But for the regular person they are decent budget setups. I do dig the SD card and USB feature.

i picked up a dual head unit off crutchfield back in 2007, and it's been in my truck kicking ever since. it was one of the cheapest that had an ipod hook up (just an aux in), but no complaints. looking to upgrade finally to something with built in ipod controls, debating getting another dual deck.

I've been eyeballing a dual deck from crutchfiield that has all the fixings for like 170. Usb, aux in, ipod control, satalletite radio, blutooth, cd...etc

i have this one...i love it.

For several years now the reviews of their gear have been getting better consistently. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at this point if it offered the features I needed at the right price.

i have a pioneer headunit. and LOVE it. MVH-8200BT, recommend to everyone, anyone that offroads-- its great b/c there's no cd player (i don't use cd's), no moving parts= less breakage..:icon_twisted:

for subs i have the kicker cvr's dual 10's in the kicker box (for now).
amps i have-- 1 kicker 1000.1 class d on the subs. and 1 kenwood 525 watt 4 channel amp on the mids/highs.

for 170.. i'd be looking at some pioneer stuff.. not DUAL.

My pioneer DEH-1300UB has Ipod/mp3 player control, USB, aux in, and is compatible with Sat/XM radio receivers, CDs and plays cds with mp3 and WMA format. Only thing is doesn't have is bluetooth. Ran me $136 including tax brand new and it sounds really good. Wouldn't pay $170 for a Dual that only has one tiny advantage over my pioneer, not at all.

i posted up the link to the $170 pioneer... that does everything the dual does. and probably more. w/ better preamp outs.

I had one like the OP posted in my Mazda. It was okay, but I like my pioneer better.

For the money though, you can't beat dual. Unless you find a used pioneer or something similar cheap.

but pioneer is offering great units for 100-130 now..

now i have a VR3 in the Explorer.. got it on sale for $50. it has usb, aux, sd, cd, am, fm. and i like it.. its great for what i'm doing w/ it. its just a headunit and some cheapish aftermarket speakers. now i would HATE to be using the 2V preamp outs. it all depends on what you're trying to push w/ it. would i push my 1525 watt system w/ a dual? NO.. would i use a VR3 on a basic radio and speakers in the explorer? YES..

this is the vr3 i have. but i paid $50... not.... OMG, $140
