I killed it!!!!

I have a 96 4wd ranger w/4.0l v6 with a automatic tranny ( 4R55E TRANNY ). Well here the problem I was driving down the street and the truck started to slow down but the motor was still running and stayed at the same rpm and the truck came to a stop.. The tranny shifts into ever gear but as soon as the it goes into gear the truck goes in the proper direction for a second and then the tranny does nothing and goes no where... But when i rev the motor in gear the tuck will move verly slowly at high rpms .. I check the fiuld level and it seemed fine but will check on saturday again.. The tranny is making a funny nosie and plus this tranny has 300k miles on it.. I don't have a tranny code scanner and i need so i can get to work on monday and i know not much time but it needs to get done.. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!

I just need to fix it ,so it has to stay alive for a while till i get my car fixed and then it can break all it wants!!

you can try to drop the pan and see if the filter fell out or the o-ring blew out. other than that you'll need a tranny pressure gauge and test the pressure

A high quality OBDII scanner should pull trans codes too.

you could sit down to see if the filter is down or replace the liquid and see a pressure

Well i took the pan down and there was alot of gold flakes in the tranny fuild and the filter was in the pan because the bolt became loose and so the filter fell in the pan... I put a new filter in the and tranny fuild .. I started the truck up and let the tranny warm up and i checked the fuild and it was good and so i put it in gear and got Nothing !!!!! The truck went no where unless i reved the engine really high so i think i burned out the clutchs in every gear because it only goes some where when i rev the engine ,even in reverse but i could be wrong...

you most likely have a failed front pump if reverse is also not working. i would just get another transmission

Ive got a couple of cars in case one breaks down but they always break down at the same time.A couple years ago the tranny blew out all the fluid.Got a ride home an hour and a half away and my pickup blew a hole through the piston pulling the bronco home.

Sounds like to me its time for a rebuild. And 300k miles on an auto tranny, dang!!!. For the best of things, get a new torque converter and rebuilt tranny. And core exchange your old one. Or get yours rebuilt and try it again. Maybe with a new torque converter.

I found a rebuild kit for under a $100.00 ,so i am going to give a whirl and do it myself...
