He is a Ford fanboy, not an automotive enthusiast. All of the car companies use some level of cheap plastic. My Ranger is a rattle trap as is every Ford in my family. The GM's are as well. Auto's are fine if that's your thing. I personally want an auto in a DD and a manual in a toy. Nothing wrong with it. I don't have to pretend to be a racer when I go to the store for bread.

If I had my way my truck would have a nice big steel dash, with round gauges (ones that are real) and no carpet, just a big drain in the floorboard you unplug when it gets wet... And a manual... I only got the automatic because #1. The t-56 6-speed is hard to find (they were an option) #2 it's faster than a 6-speed in the 1/4...

I agree. Auto DD and my toy ( what ever is ZR1, shelby, camaro...) as a manual.

As would I, if given to me I would be at a dealership that day trading it in on a real car. GM just dosn't have good build quality it a shame for one time being the top car company in the world I've been saying for year that they were going to go under.

Ok, maybe a Chevy cobalt or an Aveo is what you are talking about, but you can't be talking about a ZR1? PLEASE tell me what is so cheap about it..

You could easily throw 120K into a cobra mustang and blow the doors off the corvette, Ive seen mustangs that will do just that. They only put 15K into their engines and are pushing close to 1000 hp! That corvette won't keep up with that, and that mustang is street legal!

Well DUH! I've seen his collection way before you posted that. The ZR1 looks nice, but it's nothing really impressive. The proclaimed 638 HP is BS just like most factory horsepower ratings, it's actually around the 500 mark IIRC.

I have a T-56 out of a 94 Camaro. I also have the LT1 it was behind. I'm putting the combo in my truck.

That's what I had behind the 383 stroker in my 95 S10. That's the only thing I didn't like about the truck.

Well if the ZR1 is the same as previous models the inside door panels aren't same from side to side and you have to put it in revers ein order to get out of car and if you leave it in reverse it'll drain batterie.

I'm not saying they aren't fast or capable of going fast, but have you ever seen one go fast? The way the owners drive the damn things, they might as well have bought a Volvo. Saddens me, it does.

Many times. I know what you mean, there are quite a few retired old guys around here who drive them because I guess it's a statement. There are also quite a few guys around here who race them. I raced a supercharged Vette at the track in Dec '07 in my truck and he run like a 11.1-11.2 in the 1/4. Living around Fort Bragg there's quite a lot of single guys who like to hop up their cars so going to the track is always fun.

not all vettes are junk. i really like the first ones that came out and the stingrays are pretty cool as well.

every car company has its good and bad. it all depends on what you make of it. i am a ford guy from birth and have killed every chevy i have ever driven. i just have no luck with them.

as i was told by a guy who builds race motors, give me a 350 block and a 351 block and i will build them as close to the same as possible. the 350 will have more horse and the 351 will have way more torque. however, the 350 will be cheaper to build, but that was brought up in a different thread.

sure sports cars are nice and going fast is fun, but a quarter mile at a time just isnt enough. whats the point in having that much power and speed and no place to drive it? give me my 6.9 4 speed pulling a trailer at 60 any day.
