I have touch drive 4wheel drive and the 4x4 light won't go off.
I don't have the front drive shaft hooked up don't think that matters but i figured i would mention it.
It is the little light on the touch drive that won't go off.

did it come on when you pulled the driveshaft? or it could be the switch, they are known for going bad, even if you dont have the front d/s in, ive heard of them getting stuck halfway in neutral. most likely the switch though.

I don't know i bought it with out the driveshaft in the truck

LoL yeah me. i can pull it out of my parts truck

Maybe thats why he pulled it out because its stuck in 4wd or something. I will pull it out latter today or 2morrow!

usually people take them out because the front hubs, or ujoints go bad, and they usually dont want to fix em. i hope its just the switch

The light won't go off....Hmmm.. I'd say it's either the control module or the shift motor:
Courtesy of 4x4 Junkie:
If all the fuses are good, the next step is to run the 4x4 module self diagnostic. The 4x4 module is located behind the driver’s side rear jump seat on super-cab models, but as far as the other locations I don’t really know. This module will have three connectors going to it – one will be a pig tail, the other two will be located on the right side of it (side towards the front of the truck). These two connectors must be removed to diagnose the module. With the key in the off position, remove these two connectors from the module. Next, turn the key on with the engine off. On top of the module is a white rectangular button located next to a red LED….push the button and watch the LED.
a. If it flashes, this indicates the module is working properly. Go to the next step

Try this if the modules good get back and I'll walk you through the shift motor:D

then they are free!!! do what ranger44 said also, to rule that out before you do all the work. did the switch work?

i checked the switch and i also pulled the switch and modulator from my parts truck. I put them in and the 4x4 light is still on!!

Have you checked all fuses? Or relays?
