Okay, I got a '87 Ranger with a 2.0L running 5w30 Mobil synthetic.

I found an off-white foam on the bottom half of the dipstick and some up the dipstick tube the other day, the oil was up to temp.... !

So I let the truck sit for two hours, and drained out three cups of oil in a glass cup, let it sit and I CANNOT see any water or coolant in the oil, the oil was dark tho.

Drained the rest of the oil, I am letting it sit overnight then I will see if there is any coolant in it.

I watched the overflow tank for bubbles, there were a few bubbles, but not a constant stream of bubbles, every once in a while a bubble about the size of your pinky finger would show up every 10 min or so.

So I am *still* trying to figure out how this "Mayonnaise" is getting on my dipstick... looked at the oil filter, everything seems normal!

The truck runs rough, but I got a cracked exhaust manifold(replacing this weekend also!)

I am going to do a leak-down test/compression test on the cylinders this weekend, what should I do next , why did the oil go milky like that? :icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused:

I just got too many variables , can anyone suggest a place that I can get my oil analyzed at? Can a Ford dealer do this?

Ah, the old "foam in the oil trick"...

All I can say is...been there, done that...got the new engine...

Mine was foaming so much that I sometimes ran really low on oil...

Usually indicates gas or other fluids in the oil...but could also be caused by excessive blow-by...either way...not a good sign...I drove mine for about two years while battling this problem...went through a lot of oil...

Lucas Oil treatment might help a bit because it's thicker...but in really cold weather you don't want to be running anything too thick...

the lucas full syn oil stabilizer claims to actually improve cold starts.
