I got my 87 ranger 2.9L running again but now the engine bay is REALLY loud when running.

guys, I could use some of your guys’ expertise right now.

This is my first project car ever and just recently started learning about cars when I got it (I bought this truck just over 2 weeks ago). It was running when I got it and so far I’ve changed the engine oil + filter, changed and flushed the coolant system, changed the heater core and reconnected the coolant hoses (was bypassed by PO), replaced a very bad freeze plug that was puking coolant, and I put in a new air filter. When all of this was done I tried to bleed the coolant system but it would crank but not turn over. I traced it back to a bad inertia switch. I now got the truck running but it does not sound remotely close to what it sounded like when I got it? When I start the car it is way way louder compared to what I remember it. The sound of the radiator fan completely drowns out the sound of the engine running. I don’t know what is wrong. I don’t want to run the engine very long until I figure what that it is. I was wondering if I can get your guys’ two cents about this? I’ll post a video for you guys to examine.

if anyone has an idea I’d appreciate it.

Thanks!!

Hi so it’s the radiator fan that is running continuously at high speed when the car is cold started. Its running as if the engine temperature is high and doesn’t seem to slow down.

There is a clutch system on the fan. Probably stuck. I didn't watch video as have limited data.

Wont let me see the video.

Clutch fans do kick on on initial start for a minute...then disengage. Run it for a minute or two with your foot on the gas and see if it kicks off, if it dont its likely failed.
