My credo
I need more sleep.
So I've been working towards getting my pilots license and now I'm finally able to really get into it.
Most of the time I have been flying slow Bi-Planes from the front seat and not having brakes or the instruments. But now I have a plane to finish my training on.
It's a 1976 Cessna 150M that's in really nice condition, and is awesome to fly.
Here's some full pictures.

Anyways we flew to Shrevport, Louisiana and then drove to Minden. There we got the plane packed up and flew it home, and it was my first time taking off on pavement, nonetheless flying the plane, it was pretty easy though. The trip back took around 3 hours due to a pretty nasty headwind but eventually made it back. I came in for the landing with full 40 degree flaps and touched it down and managed to stop it having never used brakes on an airplane.
The next day we tore it apart for it's annual, and I also cleaned it up.

So after it's annual was finished we put it back together and took it out for a spin. We had also fixed the shimmy in the front wheel so I was able to make a landing on the pavement at the airport without it vibrating.
But hopefully by the end of July I will have my license.

That's really cool. I've never been behind the wheel [so to speak] but have been in a variety of aircraft. The most vivid memory is when I was in cadets. Our core went to the states and I got a ride in a jet helicopter, cruising just over the treetops. It was better than a roller coaster.

It's been pretty fun. It's pretty easy to fly being a tricycle gear instead of a tail dragger.

That is pretty cool, I flew one of those for about an hour when I was doing ground school.

If I ever win the lottery I would love to restart my pilots license.

My brother has his pilots license but doesn't fly much these days. He took me up in his plane once and it was the first time (and last) I ever flew...it was pretty neat and all...but I prefer to be on the ground...

Anyway...are you planning to become a commercial pilot or do private flights? I hear commercial piloting isn't all that exciting...but good money...

We had a commercial pilot on here years ago but I haven't seen him in a while...also there is CRBunit...

I used to want to be a commercial pilot, there can get to be a lot going on and you have how many lives in your hands. I can see where it would get pretty exciting... maybe not always in a good way (stressful) but it could keep you on the edge of your seat anyway.

Yeah, I think that would be very stressful to have so many lives depending on your ability to avoid problems...not much you can do with mechanical failure other than what we've seen with pilots landing under extreme conditions.

At one time I wanted to be a doctor but then I read where they have the highest alcohol and drug abuse issues of any other profession...that was a long time ago and I'm sure pilots are up there now too...although their physical well being is monitored much more than doctors.

The guy that took over the cockpit and flew the plane into a mountain wasn't a pilot...he was flying under the radar...so to speak...

Wow...going from a great thing like getting your pilots license and a new plane to a crazy taking over a plane and hitting a mountain...in one easy post....:)

This makes me want to get my pilots license now.

Wait a minute, what is the blue and yellow beast behind your steed? :shok:

Appears to be a bi-plane from around WW1 give the Army Air Corp symbol on the wing.

Wow, that's very cool to have your own plane. Some time ago, I took flying lessons in Cessna 150 and 172. A bit noisy, but OK. It was LOTS of fun. What a rush. Surprisingly affordable too. I shopped around for a small bush-plane, but had to give up the idea when we moved to a big city. Good luck with your certification, and have fun with your new toy. I'm so jealous! :D

Yes, but that's down the road. First I have to pass the test and check ride to get my license, get my instrument rating and then go for commercial.

Its a 1980's Pete N' Pole kit airplane.

It just has the old paint job which is usual of kit planes.

My grandpa also owns a plane called the Tiger Moth, you can see it in the back as well. It's a 80% scale of the original with a more powerful engine. Also a kit plane. He also has a Boredom Fighter which is a smaller scale of the WW1 Spad fighter.
This is the tiger moth, I'll get some pictures of the other ones later.

It was popular with prewar US military aircraft too. I love old aircraft :icon_thumby:
