I have an 89 Ranger I want to put a turbo on. I was reading the info on the site and it referred to making room for the distributor. My truck has twin coil pacs. I guess what I'm asking is do I have to swap computers and do I need to have a distributor? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TRS :)

Up at the top of the page, under the main banner, are some links
3rd one over is "Tech Articles"
If you click on it you will be taken to the "been there done that" page

If you click on "Engines & Fuel Tech"

You will be here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/index-engine-fuel.shtml

There are 3 articles on Turbo swaps for 2.3l engines, I assume that is what you have because of the "dual coils" you mentioned.
Just for future reference it is good to include more Ranger model info, i.e. '89 2.3l, 2WD(or 4x4), manual trans(or automatic)

In the forced induction forums here, do a search for some of my posts, they could help.

You'll need the forged pistons if you are wanting to push more than like 5psi, and bigger injectors are recommended if you are even wanting that. If you are wanting the best of the stock stuff with a similar to setup to what I have you can keep your stock block and swap in the forged pistons and bigger fuel injectors, rewire some things to the computer and convert to the VAM from a stock turbo engine and the computer from one and it's a very streetable setup, and you can keep your DIS setup which is very reliable

Do a lot of research before you make your decision on what you want to do, and make sure the parts are obtainable in your budget which is an important step... depending on what you can find it could range from a $500 project to a $2000 project...
