i have a 96 ranger xlt with a v6 4.0l and i want to put a level kit on my truck but i have noticed other rangers sit lower than my and i had a friend who went wheeling with me with a leveling kit and stock tire and his truck was about the same height as mine!! I was wondering if i get the leveling coils will my truck be any bigger and what company to go with???I was looking skyjacker ,superlift and rough country but i need shocks too because my are shot to hell but i don't know the pro and cons of each kit and which ones better?????
I was looking at skyjacker the other day and i noticed that skyjacker sell different coil for different models of the same truck and not just the engine please help me i am new to building rangers!!!!!

Leveling coils do tend to come up differently on different trucks due to their weight (a V6 Supercab is a good 300-400lbs heavier on the front axle than a reg-cab 4-cyl truck).

If you want a sure-fire 2" lift, go with a set of spacers underneath the spring seats which will retain your factory springs.

Height of the coils.

If your truck is a Supercab, I believe the 2" lift coils you want are #132X (as opposed to just #132).

mine is a normal cab not a super cab

hey instead of welding washers together can't i just machine a 1.5" or 2" spacer out of steel or something else??? If i did make a 2" spacer would need to do anything to the rear of the truck and would i have to get the truck aligned or would i need those bushings in order to align it??? Would the truck perform and different with spacers??? What size would you suggest??

you cant go over 2.5 to 3 inches of lift in the front with out drop brackets to get your truck aligned. but i would suggest getting some real coil spacers or buying new coils. the soft ride coils are going to ride better than the stock coils. the coils spacers are going to make the ride a little rougher.

well every time i look at 3" lift kits they come with brackets...
okay well what about Adjustable Camber Bushings do you need them with 1.5" or 2" spacers or coils too???

yes spacers will work fine. i dont think you can put f150 spring perches on. the f150 coil swap makes the rangers ride like bricks.

You can get coil spacers from a 2wd F-150 that are 1" tall and will give you about 1.5" of lift. There is an article in the Tech Library with Ford part #s.

The reason i ask was because one link in tech library says you can and the other says you can i don't get it, you can or can not us them???

no you cant use the f150 spring perches. the only way you could use them is if you got an explorer axle so the axle tubes are the same size.

You can indeed use the factory coil spacers found as was stated above.....not quite sure what downey is getting at. We're talking spacers for the front axle, to go underneath the coil springs.
