My 1997 Ford Ranger has 237,000 miles in northern Ohio, and has no rust with original paint. It looks better without the rack, but I use the rack to haul a canoe. This is my daily driver, but I’m retired so a relaxed Ranger. Four cylinders, eight spark plugs, two wheel drive, no air, and hand crank windows, it makes me smile.

Beautiful truck! Welcome to TRS.

welcome!! that looks very similar to my ranger and i have the same rack in the garage that i put on when i need to carry anything longer.

great Ranger, especially for northern Ohio.
I like the "parking brake" :icon_thumby:

Nice little truck! Yours is a classic. I'm never selling mine either. There will be a time, of course, when the drive train will wear out. So what? Just get another.

Not selling my '02 Ranger either until they take the keys from my cold hands.

Nice truck, why the 8 spark plugs I've heard about certain Ford's having more than the cylinder requirement. Sounds like a good idea if some fail?

Yep two spark plugs per cylinder, it makes for a lot more wire. I think an engineer would need to explain how they work, or why.

If I remember correctly, the extra plugs are to reduce emissions rather than provide any additional power. And they fire during the exhaust stroke instead of the power stroke, as mentioned above. People have been known to just ignore them, especially since they are kind of difficult to replace due to their location on the intake manifold side of the engine.

my dad had a truck that had the 8 plugs, back when i maintained his plumbing truck fleet. i could change all but one or two very easily on that 8 plug truck. those 2 plugs i ended up not being able to change, for whatever reason, and then forgot to bring it back in to change and the truck never had an issue
