Hypertech programmers?

I was thinking of geting one for my 96 F150. Either the power programmer 3 or the max energy. I know a guy who used one on a 5.4L and he said it woke it right up.

My question is has anyone used one? Will they do much on a stock straight 6 or is it a waste of money?

They improve performance, but on a smaller engine you may not notice much difference. If it has an auto tranny and it tightens up the shifts, that is pretty cool... Those suckers really wake up a diesel.

what motor you got in it. ive been looking for ones for mine but the only things ive found are from jet. all the others dont seem to do much.

Look at the Jet programmer. On a '96, a Hypertech will only tune for 91 octane, and tighten up your shifting. A Jet will let you reprogram pretty much anything you want.

I was looking at the jet PCM. On a 94 300 automatic truck here claiming these gains....

The biggest gains are at 5000RPM...my truck shifts at 3800. Thats with a module though, do those just plug into the OBD port or do you have to tear the dash apart and piggyback the ECM?
