Ok so last night me and my friends were messin around in the woods riding trails and i seemed to have sucked some water into my motor and hydro locked it, so got towed home last night and today i pulled the plugs and turned the motor over and sure enough water shoots out the spark plug ports so my question is what would be the best way to get the rest of the water out, i plan on taking a shop vac and a hose or straw and vaccuming out as much more as i can but what do yall think, not sure if this is the best idea but would spraying some wd40 in the spark plug ports hurt anything or maybe some seafoam, any ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated and also do yall think my motor will start up again after i get the water out? I plan on changin the oil once i get it to fire again, thanks in advance.

First thing is to check the oil level!! If it is too high then drain it and refill wilth cheap oil.
Then with the plugs out run it a couple of minutes with the starter.. Then install the plugs and see if she will fire up.. If yes the run her at about two grand for a couple of minutes. Then stop the engine and check the oil. If it is milky change it again with cheap oil and run her again for a couple of minutes. Then stop her and check the oil again. If it is still milky change it again.. Do this till the oil is clear.
Then put her on the street for a hundred miles. This hundred miles will heat and evaporate any water left inside anywhere.
Then change the oil again for your choice of oil.. Now the engine should be Ok. You should then look to the rear end for any water.
That is what I did when my son dunked his ride and it turned out OK!

could have not said it better myself!! also check the transmission, t-case and front end!! some of the vent lines are not very long from the factory and its a good idea to extend them higher or up into the cab!!

Man you lucked out with your hydrolock, mine mangled a rod and piston so bad that it was frozen solid

yeah changed the oil once already been runnin it for a while still smokin pretty bad guess i sucked in a lot of water lol, and yeah the oils gettin a little milky again imma have to change it again tommorow i guess, i use synthetic oil though will it mess anything up real bad if i just use some cheap convential for a couple hours while i get the majority of the water burned off

Dino oil will be fine while you get the issues worked out. Shouldn't hurt anything. (besides...the expense @ $7 a qt just to flush it out?)

Get marvels mystery oil and change it like 5 time, better safe than sorry

agreed, except for checking the rest of the fluids after a couple hundred miles....Check em now before any further damage is done...

We bought our 98 4.0 with a "blown head gasket", the previous owner said they took it to a shop and when they pulled the plugs it pumped out water. Think they just sucked in some water while driving, their road floods easily anyway. It ran fine though, got it home and changed the engine oil because it was indeed milky. Drained it again 3k miles later and it was black, but no traces of water or coolant. 10k miles later it still runs perfect and no signs of water in the oil :)

Just do a few oil changes with cheap oil, you should also replace the oil filter each time, they'll get clogged with the oil/water "mayo".
