Ok, so part 1 of hydrolocked explained my initial prob. and I went through and finished replacing head gaskets and cleaning heads and valves and pistons seemed to be fine... all travelled completely and without problem.... putting engine back together I then came to find out the fuel pressure regulator was faulty and was speuuuuuwing gas into #3 and #6 cylinders through the vacuum hose as I tried to initially refire.... soooo, basically engine locked up a couple times just trying to start as I narrowed my search for THAT problem..... soooo, fixed that issue and turned engine over and had some clacking going on.... which then something noticably broke as I tried to figure timing.... sooooo, compression check and #6 has none... screwdriver in spark port was able to actually push piston down.... suggestions? broken connecting rod? or maybe lucky and just a bearing cap? hmmmm
looks like to removed the oil pan is gonna require an act of God but suppose that is the first thing I can do.... Thinking though, if this is just a connecting rod issue, probably have to remove the crankshaft? which is probably gonna require me to remove engine? (buy used rod and pistons somewhere?) which then, maybe just remove engine to begin and then get to oil pan? or if it's possibly just the cap or securing bolt, maybe would pay to just inspect first?
and yes, I know maybe a good used engine at this point might be better.... but having spent $500 on the upper part so far, would be nice if possibly this is a repairable situation.... time isn't a problem as I have another vehicle and I can tinker on this as time allows.... of course, if rod is thrown or gone through engine, it's fubar?... keeping fingers crossed...
