So I thought I could lower my transmission onto the crossmember below so I could have more room to get to my clutch line. WRONG! I snapped it, and my master cylinder. My question is do I have to have that premolded hydrolic line or can I use a steel braided line with teflon intrals? I have the steel braided setup on right now and I've tried to bleed it and it doesn't seem to be working. Thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Let me know.

if you use a steel line it will have to be hydraulic quality and have the correct high pressure ends attached to it and sealed up properly. It would be best to have a hydraulic shop make one with the correct end on it. They might be able to reuse the metal end that goes into the master and the quick disconnect end that goes to the slave and just attach them into their new line. Then again you can always just order a new one from ford too...

Yeah, but FORD wants almost $80 for that sorry piece of plastic.

Go to clutchcityonline.com. They have the correct line for sale for about $30.00 as well as any other clutch parts; plus tons of info about clutches on the site.

do not buy that part from ford it's a big rip off, clutch city or rockauto.com is way cheaper, they want $145 for that part here in Canada and we are only about 5hours from the states and our dollar is the same value right now.any way,I spliced my line with brass pressure fittings and so far so good

You can get them from autozone. I have. Worst case the junkyard has plenty.
