has anybody put on a Hydrogen kit on there Ranger or B, I have been looking they sound good , I now get 17 mpg city 21 hwy they say i should get about 30 hwy. 2001 B300 at . thanks for the input :3gears:

I'm always a little skeptical on these kind of things, but if you go with it I'm sure we're all curious to hear how it works.

A 40% improvement in efficiency? I would hope your BS-meter is screaming at full-volume.

Hydrogen injection devices are a bit too new for the FTC to have shot them down already. And they seem to all be motivated by a single NASA technical report from 1972. Carburetors in 1972 sucked compared to modern fuel systems. You get comparable results by just switching to computer controls (when compared against the norm -- unmaintained carburetors). Results would need to be verified not to be just a marker of that situation.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

Quite a confusing collection of websites. The first two seem to be legitimate sites for fuel cell vehicle propulsion, which is still several years away from general use. These cells require you to fill a vehicle tank with hydrogen, which when combined with oxygen generates electricity to drive the vehicle's electric motor.

Again: this requires an electric motor for propulsion. Fuel cell vehicles run off an electric motor.

The third site, however...in short, it's snake oil. They don't offer many details, but from the pictures we can see the terms "Power from H2O" and "electro-mechanical generator". This looks to be a simple hydrogen generator, in which an electric current is passed through water, causing it to separate into hydrogen and oxygen in gaseous form. I would assume this is then sucked into the engine and burned. What they don't tell you is that the amount of gaseous hydrogen/oxygen gained this way is truly microscopic -- far too small to be of any benefit.

Spacecraft use fuel cells to generate electricity and fresh water, but they use liquid oxygen and hydrogen -- neither are easily obtainable. Or cheap.

Their intentions are probably good, but...snake oil.

Hmmm I just finished looking at two of them, im not sold on the idea. There isnt a lota technical data on what is realy happening. Its like "hear, take this, trust me it works"

theres also a kit on united nuclear.com
they say its not quite as good econemy
and there is not enough lubricatonn going to the engine
which wears them out quickly
but they seem to be doin well and almost are ready to releace(they wont sell the kit until they are happy and confidant with it)
but sounds kool

More likely, they won't sell the kit until they are confident they won't go to prison for fraud.

Hahaha.

I tend to avoid stuff like this. One, because I don't really have money to spend on random stuff (at least I shouldn't), but mostly because if it's so good, gives you sooo much better economy and the technology has been around for 30 years, then why didn't my 20 year old truck come with it?

Hydrogen sucks... The process of making/refining hydrogen creates WAY more CO2 than burning fossil fuels does. You can't have you're cake and eat it too...

good feed back

I am getting a good amount of feed back . hope there someone out there that knows some one that has tried this. I e-mailed the dis, of the fuel from h2o sight in the add it said they had a installer not to far from me , I ask:icon_hornsup: for there name & number I would like to talk to them , and to some of the ones they have installed, will keep everyone posted thanks

True. That's one of the main issues I have with people who say that hydrogen fuels will save the world. Yes, the final waste is only H2O, but what about the energy required to create the hydrogen...

Also 30MPG from an auto 3.0 is a pipe dream, most Iv'e heard is like 26 with a 5 speed... My dads 2.3 5speed barely manages 30mpg on a good day.
