Now before I go into this, I just think that its funny that all of this happened, because I was looking for a cop,(the stations are closed, and of course this is 3 days before its due) to sign off on my ticket for my tint. I had to rip it off and show one of these dudes, so I don't have to pay $350 for the bail out.

So its Sunday evening, I was going through a 2' deep puddle (going about 40mph, it was dark, and I underestimated the size) and the truck stalled. Hydrolocked.
So I pushed her to a parking a lot about a mile off because where I broke down was a "no stopping at anytime" areas (of course, right?), and I was not into having my truck towed, AGAIN.
I then proceeded to do my best to get the plugs out. Wasn't happening. Given that it was about 9pm and raining, I, with great remorse, left my truck there for the night.
When I returned the following morning with some tools, towels and an umbrella I got to it. I took out the filter, which was soaked, and the plugs. I shook it out as best I could, and dumped the residual water out of the intake tube, and dried everything out. After cranking it a few times to get the water out, I left it to get a little air time while I got the new plugs.
Got back Threw the new plugs in, put the now dry filter back in, and checked the oil.. No water as of yet. (checked 3 times total) Now I got ready for the moment of truth..

So here is the situation; I cranked it. and it started, not right up, but still within the first few tries.
It billowed some white smoke, but after a few minutes died down, and after about 10 minutes seemed to be the same as normal.
Idle isn't extremely rough, but noticeable.
When I give it gas it seems to want to sputter, and hesitate, but after a second or two it get back to regular and feels fine.
Check engine light comes on after about 10 seconds of starting.

So I don't really know what to do, I mean obviously I should change most of the fluids and such, but I am not a happy camper right now. I live in Santa Barbara CA, and a one bedroom apartment down here goes for about $1200+ without utilities, so I am up Ish Creek, and my paddle is only like a dollar above minimum wage!
At any rate I drove her home (about 4 miles), and now she sits, and I'm not sure what to do. I don't have towing on my insurance, so I'd have to drive it to the shop. I'm afraid to take her above like 25mph.
I don't really like to go to mechanics. They're not into giving good news it seems, even during the holidays. Go figure.
Anyways and thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
I'm lost.
p.s. Sorry about the length & context of all that. I type like I talk.
