I'm dropping the transmission in my '88 5 Speed 4X4 Ranger to replace the slave cylinder. I've got the quick disconnect tool (PN 308-182) and am trying to use it to separate the clutch hydraulic line from the slave cylinder at the out side of the bell housing. I have the white collar, with its gap (shaped like a chevron) and am trying to fit the tool over the collar to then slide it into the bell housing and release the hydraulic line.
The tool is not fully fitting over the white collar, and does not seem to be causing the collar to compress so that it can be slid towards the slave cylinder, so that the quick disconnect can disconnect.
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks,
John
