Hyd. Slave Cyl. line

Hey fellas, just looking for some insight.

Here's what I got:
'95 Ranger 4.0l 2wd
5-spd M5OD-R1

Slave cylinder went out. Presently the Ranger is up in the air with the drive shaft out. I'm having difficulties getting the hydraulic line disconnected. Does anyone have any info that could help me to get this off??? Currently I'm still spraying it with brake cleaner like my parts guy suggested to loosen any dirt that might have gotten in there.

Bought the "Special Tool" for $4.00 - worthless.

Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a white plastic ring betwwen the small lip on the fitting and the end of the fiting, that worthless special tool pushes that plastic ring towards your tranny into the housing the the fitting is in and releases the small metal fingers that are holding your line in there...

Just keep pushing evenly on the tool to get the white ring to depress the fingers. With patience, it will come off.

i find it helps to push the plastic line towards the tranny while simultaneously pushing the plastic ring in.

If you are replacing the slave anyway, break the fitting close to the slave. Then you can pull the line down were you can get to it, and if you have to you can cut the aluminum and save the hard line and plastic release bushing. BE CAREFUL.

I wouldn't try breaking anything. With paitence, the tool, and sometimes a small flathead screw driver it will come off. Like mentioned, push in on the line while working it.

i found that pressing the clutch in pushed mine out after i got the little white thing pressed in. and you dont need that special tool. just a flathead screw driver.

Thanks guys. I did end up using a screwdriver.

Now my next question. I have read on here that if you take the master cylinder off and turn it upside down and pump the piston you can help get alot of the air out. What's the best way to get that little clip off of the pedal.
