Hey guys. I'm new here. I don't own a ranger yet. I'm looking at one tomorrow.
Anyone here hound hunt? What mods, if any would you recommend.
I beat the crap out of the trucks we hunt out of..

What year/style Ranger are you looking at? What is the motor size? All those details help.

i dont hound hunt but i trap and beat the hell out of my rangers and they keep kickin, i don't know of another truck that would take it.

I'm looking at a 2000 reg cab xlt 4x4 auto. Not sure on the engine.

oh i was thinking like 1st gen ranger stuff.... lol. not a 2000.

i would look at 97 or older...they take the abuse much better imo

yeah i'd find something w/ the ttb front axle. 4.0... 5 speed... you know!

With a name like that I bet you are ugly. How can the dogs tell the difference when hunting?....lol

Get a real truck..Ford Raptor...if you beat the hell out of your trucks...an older Ranger will need to be repaired a lot if you are going to beat the crap out of it as you say you do.

i bear hunt and coon hunt with hounds i would say all you need to do if you get the 2000 model is just a set of shackles and max you torsion bars out thats what i did to my 2011 and it hunts just fine IMO.

Raptor. You def. need a $50k truck to beat on.

The best to beat on. One just won Dakar, and it was mostly stock except for a few small upgrades that did not cost a ton of money!!!! That, is a great beater. Hmmmm, note to myself...sell some property and buy myself one!!!

Look for something like 97 or older. I have a truck with the IFS system and it sucks. I hunt the Rockies and beet the hell out of my truck and it has lasted. But at least the TTB will last longer and give you a little more freedom.

You have any idea of what people do to trucks when hunting? A Raptor is a terrible choice, way too fancy and way too expensive to fix them shiny new body panels. Put it this way - if I drove a Raptor like I do my '91, I'd have totaled it twice by now. Yes, I know full well what a Raptor is, my cousin bought a brand new one. I think they are an absolute joke compared to what you could build with a regular 4wd F-150 for about the same money, and stupid overpriced.

Be careful doing that - you're actually destroying your front shafts every time you drive down the road - expect to replace them in about 20k miles. Your balljoints also hate you. Get a bodylift and bring the suspension back down (not all the way, but you can't go more than an inch or two over stock safely) or buy the actual lift kit. If you can afford a new Ranger you can afford a $1600 kit. Sorry to rain on your parade, but I'm just trying to save you from having a terrible headache later on.

my shfts and ball joints dont hate me to much atleast i dont think so cause i only got bout 1.5 inches maxin out my bars my front axels are pretty well at stock 2007 angle from what i can tell ill post up a picture tonight if its not to dark when i get home and you all can tell me then cause i could be wrong. thanks for the info though
