Hi all, Im having a real problem with a 94 Ranger/B3000 std cab 2wd. This is my sons truck and he asked for dads help and now Im stumped. Here is whats going on, 1, the brake lights only work when the lights are on, 2, The light switch only works when it is pushed in slightly. 3, The drivers turn signal only works in the front but works when the 4ways are on..I replaced the headlamp switch and the brake switch and still same thing..??? what the heck could it be and how does the light switch have something to do with the brake lights? different circuits right? I really could use some help on this one

For the turn signal issue, have you replaced the relay?
I am thinking there are some wiring issues with the rest of the lights though...Maybe bad ground or something....got me stumpted too.

Could also be multi function switch issues. Try wiggling it around to see if you can get the other things to work when you do this.

Yes it's really wierd. Especially with the light switch..even with a new switch that I just bought it only works when pushed in slightly and same thing with the brakes and how can the two be connected? Im about to go pull an entire wiring harness and turn switch from Pick a Part..Stupid Turn switch is over $500 new...Jezzzzz..Whats wierd is when I owned the truck I never had a problem ever with it...

Check for melted wiring at the light switch , this is a common problem .
Does this truck have a trailer light plug?
Check to make sure there are no bare wires shorting to ground.

Thanks folks for the advice..This gives me a good starting point. Im waiting on my check so I can go to pick a part..What is real irritating is this was a real sweet truck that I drove for over 230k with not one problem only having to rebuild the trans cause OD went. Made 13 trips coast to coast and then Gave the truck to my boy for a Xmas present 2yrs ago and now this stuff is happining...I will keep you all posted as I dig deeper into it.

LOL! Had the same problem years ago..Dad gave me a 90 Dodge Caravan that he never had a problem with...Then he gave it to me...3 months later the Trans grenaded itself...Replace it 2 times before it gave it to my grandfather, and told me to buy my own car....I ended up buying a '73 Nova..
