hey all, long time no see! did a complete front end refresh on the ranger (minus pivot bushings) and had a frustrating issue.

truck is a '90 manual hub d35 ttb

on the passenger side, the keyed hub washer with alignment holes for the inner nut was able to spin when torquing the outer nut.. the key looks to be in perfectly fine shape, just not strong enough to be torqued on that hard.

i noticed my inner nut was missing its keeoer dowel, so im going to replace the hardware anyway.. but do yall think i should try to replace the spindle as well? threads look okay on it as far as i can tell, no weak or work spot.

has anyone has a similar issue? i believe i have everything in proper order

I don't think I'd replace the spindle based on what you said. If the inner nut is missing the pin, then it will be able to spin no matter what... fix that... you can use a piece of a drill bit pressed into the hole if you don't want to buy a new nut.

I've seen a few washers where the tab is really short or worn down. That creates an issue where it can get spun up over the spindle threads when tightening. Sometimes flipping it over so it catches a different spot on the spindle is enough...sometimes you need a washer with a taller tab. I don't know if that's something you can buy, I just have a box of them that I dig through from trucks I have crushed.

The Dorman washers in particular have shorter rounded corners on the tooth. I don't know, but would imagine that the Spicer parts are much better.
