OK, so one day, once upon a time, I was making a quick trip with my dd, and out of no where this roaring vibration just happened on my front passenger side. Bugged the crap outta me and it only starts doing it at 25-30 mph and up. The vibration doesn't get stronger or more violent, only louder as speed increases. I was confused as hell only to have my mechanic come take a quick look and spin my wheel backwards while holding the axle... and whalla. It fixed it. He told me my 4x4 function had gone to hell with how rusted my damn hubs were. He said I would be fine as long as I didn't try to reengage them. Well.... I got stupid one day and needed it. It didn't cause me any problems but I think I started a return. Soooo I took the PVH spring assembly out and cleaned it damn good fixing it for a little while. Until now... The grinding has just started coming back randomly and I'm starting to get afraid of driving it. I've thought it was the hubs... so I took the passenger side hub out.. and to my amazement, it stopped it.. for a few minutes. lol. Next thing you know, the driver's side starts going wild. SO I bring it back home after a quick test spin to try to remove the driver's side hub. No luck. I'm guessing the corrosion locked it in pretty good. Welp, I got stupid and tried to break the damn thing and ended up shredding that plastic and removing the engagable sprocket that movies back and forth via spring. SO... I made the complete gap on both sides. I thought to myself, there's no possible way the axle will spin on either side. Welp.... The roar came back WITHOUT the damn hubs... and I jacked her up to spin the wheel and on the passenger side.. the damn axle shaft was SPINNING WITH IT!?!?!? What the heck is with that? There fore I got a set of vice grips and locked them in and freed the axle from the wheel by spinning it backwards. I get out on the road and it comes back... I start a new job next week and for the orientation training I have to travel about 2 hours... I need my DD! I've ordered AVMs and they are on their way... but they won't get here and I'm starting to get the feeling that they wont fix anything but the 4x4 functioning
Please help! Tell me what to check, I'll do it even though I'm harshly limited on tools and fluids... BTW... Should the axle end inside the hub be capable of wobbling?
Oh ya, now the vibration is super strong coming from the Driver's side, but when I jacked it up to see if the axle was spinning with the wheel, it wasn't.. this is horrible confusing...
Just a little side info, I replaced my ball joints three weeks ago and my mechanic said I did a 100% job on them...
