So after doing a little research on my 1999 XLT, I found out that many are saying there is no easy fix for the auto to manual hub conversion. I'm not very experienced at this, but I found a conversion that i'm hoping might work.

What are your thoughts? I'll accept any and all advice on this. I also don't want to permanently lock the hubs because I don't want the extra wear...

Those are the only manual hubs offered for the PVH IFS trucks. They only take about 20 minutes to install and work good.

:icon_thumby: Awesome. thankyou.
Once i look into it a little more, and actually figure out if it's my hubs, I might snatch up a pair.

One more question: I have looked in many places for an answer, but have never got a solid one.
When I try to engage 4X4, (both high and low) I hear something engage. I don't know what it is, but when I drive, the front wheels don't move... Is there anyway I can look underneath at the shaft and tell what is going on?

Yep. It's pretty simple actually. Just need you to answer a question.

-Does your 4x4 light come on?

Next step is to have a buddy look under your truck while you creep it forward in 4WD (Stay clear of the tires!). Look to see if the front driveshaft is spinning and subsequently are the CV axles turning. One thing I noticed when I got stuck in my truck is only one axleshaft spun yet I had no 4x4. It made sense though because the front axle is an open diff, the side with the good hub provided too much resistance. Then it moved power to the other side with the blown hub and just spun the axleshaft.

So in the end just look to see if the axleshafts are spinning. The alternative way is just to jack up all for wheels and put it in 4WD and get your buddy to see if the axles are turning. If they are and the wheels aren't, the issue is in your hubs. If they aren't then it lies elsewhere. Be extremely careful doing it this way because if that vehicle shifts while you are doing this it is really easy to damage/ hurt something/someone.

Okay. I understand this a bit more now.
My lights do come on. I will try what you said. I also have a vacuum tester in case there is a hole in the vacuum system somewhere.

Thank you for the help. I'll probably jack it up tomorrow and check it out.
I'll post once I find out whats wrong. Or if I have any other questions.

vacuum is your most likely problem, check all your vacuum lines to make sure none have melted through or broke.

Yep that's definitely what to do. That's what I did for my truck.

Thankyou so much for all the help guys.

I'll post the status of my truck once I get it fixed up :)

You're welcome, keep us posted:headbang:
