I WAS planning a manual hub conversion on my 1994 b4000 d35 for monday or tuesday using new warn "jeep" hubs and the dana/spicer nuts, but now NOT SO SURE-just read a thread on here that makes me think that WELDING and FABRICATION is RECOMMENDED to make non-FORD parts work. Now the WARN conversion kit seems VERY reasonable if it works right out of the box:icon_confused: Here are a few questions 1.does the warn kit work better than the dana/spicer stuff (NO WELDIND FOR TIGHT FIT) 2.can i still get FORD PARTS FOR THIS CONVERSION? WOULD LIKE TO KNOW RESULTS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE done conversion or had it done that did NOT weld and grind washer. manual hub conversion keeps stripping out locking washer
is the thread it is on pg 7 of 4wd systems-is this common?

Opps, double post my bad....

Its a common problem as its a design flaw, but most users never have the problem at all. I don't.

Trust me, even if you do end up with this problem its well worth your time and money to swap to manual hubs from the auto ones. The auto ones will leave you stranded, cold frustrated and belligerent. However the minor draw back you mention is a very small price to pay for 100% reliability of the manual hubs.

Its not as bad as it sounds. Even if you need to mod your washers down the road its a simple fix.

The Warn stuff is identical to the Spicer stuff from what I've seen. Go ahead and stick with the spicer stuff, its cheaper.

i have been running the warn hubs and spindle nut conversion for two years and never had a single problem.....ever!

i have not seen any issue of "stripping" and did not bned to weld or grind anything at all.

the ONLY issue i could ever see with the spindle nut conversion is if you dont get the nipple aligned right on the actual lock washer. you could have the spindle not turned around or something so it isnt "locked" correctly with the lock washer......it would cause the nut to twist...and the washer itself can move back and forth in the channel.....but if you take your time and make sure it's locked together correctly.......there should never be an issue....ever.

it is easy to overlook, and my friend put one side on wrong. thankfully i double checked his work and saw it was on wrong!

you guys having the same gen,and eng/drvtrn rbv as me makes me feel better-thanks ! so here goes
