Been looking for a while, this looks like a decent deal to me. thoughts?

I figure the welders around $500 new, plus a few hundred? for the full tank and a bit more for the wire and gloves. doesnt say it includes a mask though

3/16 plate .035 fluxcore wire.

24 gauge is not 1/4" thick. duty cycles kinda low but if youre just doing some garage fab it should work ok. welding masks can be had pretty cheap ($50), mines from harbor freight and i use it every day.

If you get that welder try to have a dedicated electrical circuit with at least a 20 amp breaker. It's the shits having to flip the breaker every 2" of welding
nate09 is right about the helmet. I picked up an 'instant on' from Princess Auto for C$55.00. Works great with my lincoln weldpac 100. My 'owned' tank cost C$225.00 filled with argon for aluminum, use co-2 or a mix for steel.

Its a great welder to learn on, but if you EVER think you'll want something bigger than hold out and get a 220. Welding helmets protect your eyesight so I wouldn't go cheap there.

how does it look price wise? Im really just looking for something to learn on and would like a more portable 110 model. i was actually looker a little smaller like a 120 or 125 amp instead of the 140

That's a really good price for it with shielding gas. Id say get it if its just for learning. I wouldn't use it for anything too structural I guess.. it would work great for 3/16 or thinner. Stixk with the 140 amp or bigger, its much better. Its much harder to weld with an underpowered machine..

yea, its about $480 new and this comes with a full tank(not sure of size), 2 spools of wire and gloves for $500.

Get it! And don't worry about the duty cycle, unless you plan on welding 2 foot welds at a time, it'll hold up to whatever fab work you want to do.

I've had mine for almost 5 years and it hasn't skipped a beat.

I use a stick welder for heavy stuff. For exhaust pipe and things that Hobart will be great. I wouldn't go too thick with it because it likes to paint a pretty weld up on top of the metal. You need more current for thick metal. A mig like that will weld anything, but not very deeply. I would never do 1/4" with a 110V welder. 1/8" it will be okay if you go slow and make sure it's burning deep. I use the stick for 1/8" though. I like things to be welded deep.

What I'm saying is, this is a good welder and you really need a mig for most small things. A stick welder is cheap so you can pick one up later for the bigger things. A big mig isn't cheap.
