Howdy Folks!

New to this forum, I found y'all with Google trying to get my Ranger running.

I'm having an issue with the fuel pumps, or the front/rear switch... It only starts when it feels like it (sounds like my ex...)

In May I picked up a 1988 XLT V6 4x4 extra cab Ranger with a Meyer's snow plow with only 84,000 original miles on the Ranger. I bought it from the 2nd owner. I'm a guy so I need a truck, my Ex got my F-150... I really needed the snow plow last winter as I have 1/2 mile of gravel (some of it hilly) to get to the pavement & to work.

I also use it like a truck to haul gravel, trash, etc. and I hope to use it to pull my pop-up camper also.

I grew up working on cars with my step-Dad and little brothers, but I got out of the habit some 20+ years ago and I'm trying to relearn has fast as I can.

I'm sure I will ask too many stoopid questions... I'm famous for that on the tractor forum I frequent also.

I'm sure I will LOVE my ranger as soon as it reliably starts again...

Thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure I will get.

Be well,
David

PS - MossFlower Woods is what my kids and I named this place when I bought it. It is from a children's book series....

Howdy and welcome to TRS!

I'd check the inertia switch first. It's a common problem. It's also fairly easy to check for voltage at that point too. Just don't forget that you only have voltage for like 2 seconds after turning the key over. Unless it starts that is.

I just realized you said front/rear switch so dual tanks. I don't have clue how that system works..
